New Nastin page (March 2009) |
May, 2008
Hello, my name is Sergei!
I am writing about my granddaughter. Nastya is 1 year and 9 month old now.
She doesn’t understand yet, that those whom she calls father and mother are really her grandparents.
Once Nastya saw her parents, but she doesn’t remember them.
I can’t explain their cruel indifference to their child. May be because they are children themselves.
Nastya’s parents simply left the girl in our house and went away.
We didn’t hear anything about our daughter more then a year, and we didn’t know were she was, now she is announced in the federal research.
My wife and I claimed for deprivation of parents’ rights of Nastya’s parents, it will be held on April 28.
As we know, Nastya’s father is going to challenge his parents rights in court. God judies him…
Earlier my wife signed over guardian ship over granddaughter, because the child can’t be abandoned, somebody should lead her to the nursery, bring her to the clinics, and, moreover, just be a legal representative of her interests. But trouble never comes alone…
But trouble never comes alone…
March 24, a normal evening, we were going to sleep. Nastya refused to eat her supper, but drank a lot of water, then milk – a full stomach.
She couldn’t fall asleep for a long time because of this full stomach, began asking: “Take me out of the bed, lets go to the room!” She started crying, and suddenly a severe vomiting began. Everybody was afraid, including Nastya. Being on my arms she started breathing intermittently, then became pale, nasolabial triangle became blue, and in one moment she bent back or her body powerless by hung, we didn’t understand.
Svetlana ran to call an ambulance, I stayed with Nastya. I put heron the bed, and for some time she was unconscious and didn’t breathe. And before that jaw muscle spasm, occurs and there as an awful grin with rattles. I don’t know. If she resigned from this state herself or I helped her.
I made a couple of shallow breathings in her nose, her jaws were compressed, and I made few slow pushes on her chest.
It seemed to me, that the eternity passed by, but really just a few seconds.
By the ambulance’s arrival, there was only weakness, Nastya was almost asleep. The doctor examined her and said that such things could happen to children.
On March 28 there was the same situation, but without loss of consciousness and convulsions. The doctor didn’t find anything terrible again and promised to send a doctor the following day.
On March 29 the doctor recommended a heart survey.
On March 31 a cardiac survey was done for Nastya in the clinics, and according to the results Nastya was immediately sent to the hospital.
After several studies and surveys on the same day Nastya was sent to the resuscitation with suspeceted tromboembolism. Nuclear magnetic resonance imaging did not confirm lung embolism…
Less than in a month for the first time we hard those three terrible words – primary pulmonary hypertension.
We couldn’t believe in this diagnosis. We thought that local doctors were mistaken. Can you imagine that this cheerful child may die within 2 – 3 years!
But the diagnosis was confirmed in Moscow’s Bakulevskyi Cardiology Centre.
After the survey Nastya was playing at the playground in the yard of this centre.
Injustice of the sentence hurt our hearts. Me and my wife could not stop our tears. She is still an angel, why are you doing it, God?
After the arrival to Jaroslavl, we tried to calm, and we started studying the disease.
We found a site of a Charity fund “Natasha” and we contacted the president of the fund Evgeny Komarov. His fund had become for us a life – saving chance to save our granddaughter. We have a chance! And we must give it to our baby! Nastya should know more about this world!
The fund is negotiating with hospitals of Germany, Austria and France.
I consulted with Israel over the phone. Thanks God, no one of foreign experts says anything about transplantation. But it is necessary to make a survey. The price of this survey according to the preliminary information is 10000 euro.
Expensive drugs have already been prescribed - only one tablet of sildenafil (Viagra) costs 350 rubles! Dr. Shrants from Germany asked about parents’ opportunities in buying illoprost, the monthly rate of which is approximately 80000 rubles!
No, we do not have such an opportunity…
A bit about myself. I am 41 years old. My wife’s name is Svetlana. We are peers. We are engineers. I work in the Ice Palace of Sports, Svetlana in a trade firm.
We are not businessmen and our salaries are not as big as in capital of Russia.
Please, take part in Nastya’s destiny and help her win!
Our fund is beginning to collect money for consultation and survey in the clinic of Gessen (Germany) for Nastenka Kanunova.
The preliminary price of the survey is about 10000 euros. (when we receive invoices from the clinics, the document will be posted on Nastenka’s page).
Let us help a small child not to know how it is dangerous when it is not enough air and the heart stops…

31.07.08 On Saturday our girls will be going home. Nastya was prescribed a new and very expensive medicine, the doctors have decided on the right dosage. Svetlana has already bought enough medicine for the first course (about 7-8 months) – a huge thank you to our friend from Kiiv, Oksana, who left 5000 euros for any unexpected expenses!
29.07.08 Yesterday Nastya had a temperature of over 39C (120,2F). The doctors gave her anti-fever medicine, and this morning the girl had a normal temperature. Svetlana and Nasten'ka are getting ready for their trip back home. Unfortunately, we don't have a reliable means of communication with Sergey and Sveta – only text messages. That's why we don't have detailed information about Nastya's treatment and the doctors' prescriptions yet. We are waiting for them very impatiently.
24.07.08 Bad news – little Nastya's diagnosis has been proved, primary pulmonary hypertension. Tomorrow Svetlana will be meeting the doctors, who will explain everything and give recommendations. Today they were talking about two medicines which Nastya will need, and that later she will have to undergo a heart operation, ventricular septum will have to be pierced to lessen the blood pressure on ventricle. Nastya is conscious, but she is not allowed to sit up or walk. After the day's procedures she is exhausted, crying now and then.
23.07.08 (evening) News about Nastenka. Today the doctors took a sample of Nastya's blood. She also had to go through X-raying, ultrasonic scanning, the doctors established intravenous line, according to Svetlana – "a tiny one", meaning that its smaller than the one she had when she was hospitalized at home in spring. Nastya has problems getting adapted to a different time zone, as she had used to a time routine at home, and here, in Germany, she has all the examinations at exactly the same time when she used to eat or sleep. Nastya was tearful during the medical procedures, but after being given mild sedative, stopped crying and was almost asleep at the echography
When Svetlana and Nastya arrived at the clinic, the girl understood immediately where her granny (although she is like a mother to Nastya) brought her and started begging her to leave immediately. After all the shock and fear she went through in Yaroslavl in spring, Nastya is scared of hospitals and doctors. At that time, the doctors suspected pulmonary thromboembolism, Nastya was taken to the resuscitation unit and neither Svetlana, nor Sergey were allowed to see her, although they begged the doctors to let them in, knowing how sensitive and vulnerable the child is. Nastya had a real phsychological shock then, as she found herself in a different environment, with strangers around, serious medical procedures. She spent the whole day crying, ending up with hysterics. When Svetlana came to get Nastya, she just started beating and scratching her face.
However here, in Gissen clinic, Svetlana was told that she could accompany Nastya to all the procedures.
The most important thing now is for them to get through this night. Nastya can't sleep properly, she has breathing problems, pains, keeps waking up every half an hour, and Sveta and Sergey have to give her warm milk. Sergey says that for Nastya milk is some sort of a defense, her anti-stress factor. This evening the doctors told that Nastya can't have anything to eat or drink before tomorrow's catheterization. Sergey is very upset – he is not sure Nastya will be able to cope with this, and she needs to be rested and relaxed for tomorrow, when she will undergo a complicated examination with narcosis, maybe even an operation.
Svetlana explained the situation with milk to the doctors and they promised to give Nastya sleeping-draught, which will help her have at least several hours' sleep.
More about Nastya. Generally she is in a good mood, there is a big choice of toys in the clinic, and today Nastya even managed to ride a tricycle! She couldn't do it at home – she was to tiny and frail for that. Apparently the tricycles in the German clinic are smaller and lighter than the one she has at home. In Gissen Nastya is taken good care of. In the evening Irina took her and Svetlana to her house, everybody is trying to entertain her, maintain her positive mood. When Sergey phoned them, he heard Nastya twitter with one of Irina's friends and calling him "daddy" :). In Nastya's book it’s the highest praise – that's the way she calls all the men she likes.
She still has problems eating properly – she is very choosy with her food at home, doesn't like new thing, and there is a lot of new food in Germany. For this case Sveta brought some food from home.
This night and tomorrow morning will be very difficult for Nastya. And these hours are very important for her.
23.07.08 Please forgive us for not updating the news about Nastya for such a long time. The most important one is, of course, Nastya's birthday – on July 12 she became 2! We have photos from our Thumbelina – there is no other way to call her, she is to tiny! All the pretty dresses that were sent to Nastya for her birthday were a bit big for her – her height is 80 cm (31,50 in) now. Another big thing in Nastya's life – she arrived in Gissen where she will undergo medical examination and cardial catheterization. Yesterday Svetlana and Nastenka landed in Frankfurt. They were met in the airport and taken to a boarding house not far from the clinic. A big thank you to Irina and Roman from Gissen – they met our girls and invited them to their house, helped to get accustomed to the place. Also, a big thank you to Oksana for organizing Svetlana's and Nastenka trip and for her helpful friends. We are so happy, that Sveta and Nastya have people, who will support them!
Today Nastya will visit the clinic for the first time, to get examined, pass the necessary tests and get ready for the cardial catheterization. We are all keeping our fingers crossed and praying thet the operation is successful and the diagnosis was mistaken. Be brave, Nastya, we believe in you!
11.06.08 Today we got an e-mail from a very good friend of ours, a person who does a lot to help our foundation! A big thank you to Oksana from Kiiv.
But let us start from the beginning. Oksana booked a room in a boarding house from Svetlana and Nastya and arranged a transfer for them from the train station to their accommodation. She has also arranged for her friends to help and support Sveta and Nastya for the whole period of their stay in Gissen. Besides, Oksana sent an additional sum of 5000 euros to the clinic for emergency situations – e.g. if an extra operation or medicines are needed!
Also, today we got news from Sergey, Nastya's grandfather. Yesterday he was in Moscow. He managed to get Nastya's international passport to be ready within just one day (although he had to pay additional price for it), so he bought tickets with open return dates, as it is not clear yet, how much time Nastya will have to spend in the clinic. We only need to receive a confirmation of the money receipt and send this document to the German embassy for opening a visa.
Yesterday Galya phoned the hospital, but the coordinator will only be at work tomorrow, so we didn't manage to find out if the money have passed through yet. All the other tasks are easy to handle.
We would like to thank Galya Volovik for her continuous help, all the girls from Littlevan, who helped to collect the money to pay for the medical examination, tickets and all the necessary paperwork. We are also grateful to Sergey Semyonov, who repeatedly helped Nastya, Katya Ivanova, who sent money for her. With all your help we managed to collect 45000 roubles!
Thank you to Stefan Selkh, who transferred 4000 euros to the clinic, and to Sasha Venkova, who helped by starting topics about Nastya in vcontacte.ru and on a Ukranian webforum. Thank you to all the forum users, who didn’t remain indifferent. Thank you for being a part of Nastya's life!
We would like to announce, that we stop collecting money for Nastya's examination. We will keep you all updated on Nastya's condition and on 24th July we will all be praying that Nastya's terrible diagnosis doesn't prove to be true!
We would also like to mention, that Nastya's birthday is 12 July. If anyone would like to send their congratulations to the girl, we will be happy to pass them on. We still have 1500 roubles remaining on Nastya's account, as well as some money for her birthday present. THANK YOU ALL!
28.05.08 We've got GREAT NEWS today! Mr Stefan Selch has transferred of money - 4 000 Euro - to University Hospital Giessen for Anastassia treatment! There are no words that can describe how thankful we are for this generous gesture! On behalf of Nastia's grandparents and from myself - Thank you, Mr Selch! Thank for your kindness and support that helps us!
05.05.08 Thanks to Alexandra from St. Petersburg for the transfer of funds to yandeks-purse.
